Women’s Fashion on The Corner- Chunky Knits, Riding Pants, and Over the Knee Boots
Is it cold in NYC? I didn’t notice with this big chunky knit sweater from H&M. I had this beauty, which is in my fav color since last year. I never got the chance to wear it.
Paired with black riding pants and over the knee flat boots (over the knee for average height people, regular knee boots for me) it was perfect and comfy.
How are you dressing to tackle the weather? Let me see.

Women’s Fashion on The Corner- Zara Denim Swing Dress
Hello Loves! It seems like fall has finally decided to arrive in NYC. I pulled a few things out of the closet that have a heavier fabric. I’ve had this dress for a long time. Its probably close to 10 years old. I love how the thick, heavy denim was cut and tailored. The close fit of the bodice and the swing at the bottom has made it a go to piece for me over the years.
Since I’m one of the lucky people that gain weight mostly on my bottom half, this dress has been ale to fit whether I go up or down. Paired with my fav hunter green snakeskin Cesare Paciotti pumps, a jeweled necklace and some enamel bracelets, I was classy and simple yet chic. On my Whitley Gilbert from A Different World. lol. I’m feeling skirts and girly pieces these days. Let’s see where this goes.
What looks are you all going for this fall? Do tell.

Beauty on The Corner- Alek Wek Covers Forbes Life Africa
This is absolute perfection. I love to see models who’ve been in the game for years still slay. Her skin, that red lip, and statement necklace are insane.
I also love to see models of color on the cover of magazines. It seems like models of color get more love overseas. But that’s another conversation.
How hot is this pic honeybuns?

Fashion and Beauty Met Natural Hair- Eden BodyWorks’ Style With Eden Event

When I think about Eden BodyWorks, I can hear Biggie Smalls singing “and another one” as in another fab event. About a year ago, Eden BodyWorks launched its new Jojoba Monoi line with a Brunch with Eden series. This year, Eden BodyWorks kicked off its Style with Eden series to announce its new Coconut Oil and Shea Butter infused products at Pranna in NYC.

The event was attended by NYC’s stylistas and natural hair lovers. Bloggers, beauty, fashion and media mavens mingled and gagged over each others hair and accessories while enjoying delicious bites and cocktails. There was also an informational panel in true Eden fashion (always educating on the importance of natural, healthy, beauty practices) that included Felicia Leatherwood, Natural Hair Stylist and Founder of Loving Your Hair with Natural Care, Kela Walker, Style Contributor to Black Enterprise and Founder of Kela’s Kloset, Latisha Daring, Owner and Designer of Asytyn LLC, and Milly Almodovar, Beauty Editor for Cosmo Latina and Founder of Beauty Logic Blog.

The event took place on the first day of Spring but the weather didn’t get the memo. Because it was so cold out, I opted for my trusty black wrap dress, black and gold Cesare Pacoitti boots, bright necklace and a bright lip. I tried to throw spring in there with the lip and necklace although it was clearly winter outside. (rolls eyes extra hard)

Overall, the night was amazing as everyone networked and connected. Click through the pics to see how everything shaped up. As soon as I try the new Coconut Shea products I will do a review. There were new additions like curly puddings in soft and medium hold as well as a co wash, leave in conditioner, and shampoo. The products are slated to hit Walmart stores in the beginning of April.

Check out Eden BodyWorks’ facebook page to see when Style with Eden will hit a city near you. Attending one of their events is so worth it. Until next time lovelies.

Fashion on The Corner- Easing Into Spring
So a few weeks ago the ground hog came out of the hole and said there will be an early spring. I guess that’s what happened. I really don’t understand the whole groundhog situation but anything that even hints at this winter being over is alright in my book. So since spring or spring like weather will arrive in about four weeks, I say we welcome it by incorporating a few bright pieces to our looks.
In September, the spring/summer 2013 runway shows had large amounts of eye popping color. Everything from light pastel hues to bold neons floated down the catwalk. While the temps are still frigid here in NYC one might not feel the need to add color to their everyday wear. I suggest starting small and easing into springish outfits.
The collage above shows a few pieces I think would be perfect to rock now before flowers start to bloom and temps reach the 60s and 70s. Try adding color with a pair of earrings, a new nail polish, a cocktail ring, stackable bangles or place a bright short skirt over your opague tights. Either way you go, you’ll look great and at the very least brighten the mood in the office.
Let me know how you all are preparing for spring. I know I can’t wait.

Style on The Corner- It’s me Brandis

My friend took a few pics of me when I met her in the city last week. Had to get my colored jeans in before the weather got cold. Although I think with a nice sweater and some booties these pants can transition to fall.

PS- The denim sash worn is my rendition of a belt. With such a small waist, I always have to take in my pants. The sash serves as my belt because just like pants can’t fit my waist regular belts can’t either. I happen to like the sash more anyway. I have a few colors. And a crisp white shirt works great all year around. Its a wardrobe staple, this one is from Club Monaco and has a great shape. Its not boxy like some made by other brands.
