Beauty on The Corner- Zoya Nail Polish, Get 3 for Free
Hey honeybuns, so we are all nail fanatics over here on the corner so we jump at opportunities like this. The promotion started yesterday January 7th, but up until January 13th you can pick three bottles of Zoya polish for FREE. You just pay $10 for shipping and processing. So basically you’re paying $10 for 3 bottles of polish that normally cost $8 each.
I’m still deciding if I want to order. I did this with them before and one of my polishes was out of stock and they didn’t send anything in it’s place nor offer an apology. But I’m a sucker for polishes so I may suck it up.
This is exclusively for www.zoya.com. Use promotional code- Zoya2013
Let me know what colors you all got. The have great shades.
Beauty on The Corner- Trend Mani by Polish Bar BK
So last night I had the pleasure of joining a fab group of women in Brooklyn for manis, martinis, sweet delectables and great conversation. The manicure included a nail decal that was placed on one nail and set with a gel to harden. It is said to last 2 weeks. You can just change the color of the other four nails. The light green color is “Don’t Talk Bach To Me” by Opi and I just love it. It looked like awful pea soup in the bottle but came out a great shade.
Special thanks to Renae Bluitt and Polish Bar BK for the amaze service and awesome girl’s night fun.
PS- There was a gift bag by the event sponsor Miss Jessies filled with so much full sized goodness that I have to write about it in another post. Stay Tuned.
Fashion News on The Corner- Azature’s $250,000 Black Diamond Nail Polish
Look I know the nail hustle has become the it thing to do with everyone from Mariah Carey to top fashion designers like Oscar de la Renta getting in on the fun, but when is enough, enough? Azature a luxury jewelry line has launched the most expensive nail polish in the world. Its black and infused with 267 carats and cost an inflated $250,000. The nail polish will be one of a kind as in only one bottle will be made and the luxury brand is slated to release $25 versions in Fred Segal shops this month.
With children going hungry all around the world, I would love to see the person that buys this. I’m all for high fashion and luxury but some things deserve a well warranted side eye.

Nails on The Corner- H&M Stuck in Yellow Mini Polish
I was in H&M and saw this cute yellow polish. I must say I was a little skeptical about how the color would look on me but I absolutely love it. Yellow seems to be one of the it colors for the season. It just screams summer. The marble design on the index and middle finger is a throw back to what I used to do in high school. (been in this nail art game for years lol) To achieve the look dab a few drops of different colors on your nails and swirl them around with a hair pin or toothpick. Let the nails dry completely then add a top coat to avoid smudging or messing up the pattern.
If you try this look let me see it please. Happy mani/pedi people!!
Fashion News on The Corner - Essie Weingarten Launches Flagship Nail Salon in NYC
The woman who single handedly changed the nail game launched her first flagship nail store inside Samuel Shriqui’s Salon in NYC according to Vogue.com. Samuel Shriqui’s is where her loyal and trusted nail technician Josephine Allen of 20 years is located, so Essie thought what better place for her nail salon to be. The 65th street location has an all white decor with leather chairs named and colored after her fab famous polishes. There’s also a wall of color that holds about 300 of the cleverly named shades. Imagine trying to pick a color for your mani out of that selection. Sheesh that would be a task.
With manicures starting at $32 and pedicures starting at $65 in the city of cheap quick nail fixes would you visit the Essie Flagship? I think I would visit once as a treat because it would be more about the service and experience than the price. But a $100 mani/pedi which would normally cost me about $30 depending on where I go would have me thinking twice about returning.

Nails on The Corner- Essie Summer 2012 Collection
If these colors don’t make you feel like summer in NYC then I don’t know what it will take. These bright colors will add a a ray of sunshine to any cloudy, rainy day in the city. As we’ve all observed Mother Nature is going through something personal and can’t get it together, so hopefully these will keep the fun of summer alive for you.

Take Note- MAC Cosmetics New Nail Lacquer Collection
Although the full line launches in July, MAC Cosmetics has been stirring up some conversation about their new nail lacquers. A permanent set of 30 colors ranging from nudes to deep pinks, to dark jewel tones, to metallics and glitters. They have the full spectrum of women covered from corporate ladder climbers to rockers. 11 shades are currently available on their website. At $22 a pop are you going to indulge? And am I the only one who notices how nails have become big business?
I’ve always said nails are accessories too, so treat them as such and have fun. I guess everyone gets it now. Happy mani/pedi!!!!
Mani Mondays- ME (Mattese Elite) Mini Bottle in Lightning Blue
Every time I do a manicure I remember Tyra Banks telling Eva Pigford “top models don’t wear acrylics”. To each its own but I decided no more acrylic wraps for me years ago. Healthy manicured nails are chic.
However, this week I decided to see how my nails would look with the pointy stiletto tips and I must say I like it. Although for a busy mom whose also a domestic diva I don’t think they would last long. They’re very delicate. On the index finger I just made strokes from side to side in different directions with various colors in my nail bag.
This spring/summer is all about bright neon colors or light pastels. Style trends land on both ends of the color spectrum this year. If you’re not bold enough to do the neon trend in a full on outfit your nails are a great way to participate.
Happy Manis! xoxo
