Fashion News on The Corner - Essie Weingarten Launches Flagship Nail Salon in NYC
The woman who single handedly changed the nail game launched her first flagship nail store inside Samuel Shriqui’s Salon in NYC according to Vogue.com. Samuel Shriqui’s is where her loyal and trusted nail technician Josephine Allen of 20 years is located, so Essie thought what better place for her nail salon to be. The 65th street location has an all white decor with leather chairs named and colored after her fab famous polishes. There’s also a wall of color that holds about 300 of the cleverly named shades. Imagine trying to pick a color for your mani out of that selection. Sheesh that would be a task.
With manicures starting at $32 and pedicures starting at $65 in the city of cheap quick nail fixes would you visit the Essie Flagship? I think I would visit once as a treat because it would be more about the service and experience than the price. But a $100 mani/pedi which would normally cost me about $30 depending on where I go would have me thinking twice about returning.

Nails on The Corner- Essie Summer 2012 Collection
If these colors don’t make you feel like summer in NYC then I don’t know what it will take. These bright colors will add a a ray of sunshine to any cloudy, rainy day in the city. As we’ve all observed Mother Nature is going through something personal and can’t get it together, so hopefully these will keep the fun of summer alive for you.

Nails on The Corner- My mani that didn’t last! :o(
So if you know me you know that I’m a green fanatic. I love all shades of green. I love all things green period. So when I did this mani last week with Mac Cosmetics Mint Peppermint Patty and my index finger in Essie’s Pretty Edgy, I was so feeling myself. Then I went to see my mom.
She looked at me and said can you braid my hair while you’re here right now? I knew my mani was over. LOL but she got me! I cut my nails and braided her hair. Let’s see if I can shape them to do another great look for this week. I just can’t leave them alone. Nails are your best accessory afterall.
TAKE NOTE- Orange is the color of 2012
You’ve seen the color on such runways as Michael Kors for Spring, but in 2012 everything’s coming up orange. Even Pantone declared orange the color of this year. While I know it may be hard to see yourself in full orange mode with an outfit, you can start to embrace it by implementing the color to your beauty regimen. Pictured above is Essie’s Orange-Its Obvious nail polish from its Spring 2012 collection and Bobbi Brown’s lipstick in Atomic Orange from her Neons and Nudes collection. Instead of grabbing your trusty reds or pinks, try an orange hue. These products are ways to incorporate the color subtly. As you can see on Eva, the color compliments our skin.
Have an affair on your regular lip choices, act like an adult for once. ;o)
Holiday Wish List Item- Essie Nail Polish in Power Clutch
If you know me then you know that I like all shades of green. This color from Essie’s Fall 2011 collection will be great to slide into my stocking. That’s all. As you were!
PS- Never forget that your nails are just as important as any other accessory you put on.
