Natural Hair on the Corner- Solange Knowles Graces Lucky Mag’s August 2014 Cover
This has got to be my most fave Lucky Mag cover yet. Solange gives us a brushed out fro with a few curls a la the seventies era.
I adore her. I think she just plays by her own rules. I love that she represents for the natural movement, even if she doesn’t consider herself a spokesperson.
Hey Solo, looking good kid!!!
Would you rock this hair style? I most certainly would!!!

Natural Hair on the Corner- Tamron Hall Rocks a TWA on the Today Show
So the natural hair fan fair has reached new heights. Today Show anchor, Tamron Hall rocked a sleek teeny weeny afro on the show today with approval from Al Roker. The beauty went on to say on Instagram her new look was well received by the company and her co-workers. Bravo for her!!
I always wear my hair out at work, and to interviews. It’s a part of who I am. I let everyone know, this is what you will get upfront. I’ve always been one to go against the grain, conforming is not my thing.
Go Tamron!!!

Natural Hair on The Corner- Janelle Monae Let’s Her Hair Down
Everyone loves this pint size diva with the updo that reaches for heavens. However, over the weekend the Tight Rope singer let her tresses down after her performance at the Bonnaroo festival last weekend.
I love her with her hair down. I’d like to see more of it. It actually compliments her laid back rocker chic look.
What say you? Love it or leave it alone?!

Natural Hair on The Corner- Annie Trailer with Quvenzhane Wallis

Check out the miniature natural beauty, Quvenzhane Wallis as Annie and Jamie Fox as Mr. Stacks. The movie has definitely been modernized and a lot of people aren’t happy with it.

Just peep the comments under the trailer on You Tube. And people for the record if you have to start a statement with I’m not racist then you are.

I can’t wait to see it in December. What do you guys think?

Natural Hair on The Corner- Getting Your Hair Spring Ready

Hello honeybuns!! Winter has been a beast across the world. Snow and freezing temps seem to be the never ending story this season. I for one, have my eye on the prize. That prize being my favorite time of year, spring.

Spring starts tomorrow, so its time to get those lackluster strands back into shape. The harsh weather dealt this winter put a beat down on my hair. It felt dry and brittle no matter what I put in it. And, I’m a girl who deep conditions weekly. But my hair wasn’t having it. So I had to go hard, to bring my tresses back to life.

This past weekend, I did a protein treatment with two eggs, amla oil and conditioner. The result is what you see in the pic above. My hair was soft and shiny. Detangling didn’t even take long. I was determined to replenish the lost protein this winter took from my strands.

You see, hair is primarily made up of protein and we end up losing protein due to weather, heat, dyes and other factors. Lost of protein can lead to split, damaged and dull hair. So to rejuvenate, try a protein treatment at least once every couple months. Be careful how long you leave the protein in. Leaving it in too long can cause the hair to become brittle.

After I washed out my concoction, I blew my hair out, as I always do and dusted the ends to remove some single strand knots and any splits. I then applied my whipped shea mix (raw shea butter, black castor oil, olive oil and water), and twisted it up with Eden BodyWorks Coconut Shea All Natural Defining Creme in medium hold. You don’t have to use a lot of product on each twist. I like soft movable, touchable hair. I left the twists in for about two hours then separated with my fingers and presto.

I wish I had a better pic of the full view. But this one is the only decent one after my best friend’s bday weekend. It was the first and last time I would try a hookah. This pic captured my moment.

What are you guys doing to enliven your strands for the warmer weather? Do tell!!

******Update****** I’m not good with measurements but I used 2 large eggs, about 2 tablespoons of amla oil and two hand scoops of conditioner. I have a lot of hair. I like VO5 moisture milks because then have a lot of slip to them. The conditioner is great for detangling. I hope this helps @tuned-into :o)
