Fashion on The Corner- Naomi Campbell is W Magazine’s October Covergirl
W mag makes “Mother” apart of their “The Royals” feature. She is one of quite a few amazing women, who according to wmagazine totally rule. I mean “Mother” ruling is absolutely old news to me, as she is everything.
However, thank you W Mag for showing she is still a force in the modeling game. I can’t wait to grab a copy.

Fashion on The Corner- Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2015 Show Recap
"I am the creator, and this is my house. Once you enter my house, it then becomes our house. You may be Black. You may be White. You may be Jew or gentile. It don’t make a difference in our house and this is fresh!"
Then the beat dropped and the first model hit the runway to kick off Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley’s second go round as Marc by Marc Jacobs’ creative directors.
The sophomore jinx wasn’t present here. The duo delivered punk chic (“hard-core idealism” as they called it) that can be appreciated by the masses. For Spring 2015, culottes, cropped tops, and flirty dresses return but with a twist. Partnering with House of Harlot, the looks were styled with second-skin latex, which were also sourced for some of the polka dot looks.
Flight suits, anoraks, cropped caplets with hoods, backpacks, and deconstructed sweatshirts outlined the cool kids aesthetic. The party girls and prom queens of the world weren’t left out. Short, fun dresses and bandeau tops, were laid over tees and crisp white button ups. And the fashionistas, can definitely don the architectural white mini skirt and the white cropped pants suit.
All of this is to say, the show served as an invitation for all to join "the rave." Hair and makeup created the perfect juxtaposition, as Guido Palau used bantu knots to form a mohawk, yet faces were natural with a full brow.
Last but not least, the soundtrack mixed by Steve Mackey which began with Rhythm Controll’s “My House”, produced electronic beats fused with classical composition. It served as the perfect backdrop to the hard yet chic ensembles.
There was fashion, there was music, and there was art. Three of my fave things meshed into one amazing presentation. Well done MBMJ!!!
PS- You can view the show in its entirety on marcjacobs.com! You’re welcome!
Fashion on The Corner- Naomi Campbell for Interview Mag Shot by Mertalas
Mother made me get up and work out this morning. Owww!
Wearing Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy, Mother puts these young girls to shame.
Bow down bishes!!!!!
Fashion on the Corner- Hip hop and High Fashion Collide
ASAP Rocky and Chanel Iman grace the pages for Vogue for the September issue on newsstands now. Hip hop has influenced high fashion for a long time. Seeing them together reminds me of that every time.
Fashion on the Corner- Keke Palmer for Bombshell Magazine
I must say she grew up quite nicely. I love this look on her. Playful yet classic in a naven top, moto jacket with hardware and long flowing skirt.
Fashion on The Corner- Vogue’s September Issue Has Models Gasp!!!
So I saw the new Vogue cover and clutched my pearls for two reasons. One, there’s models on the cover. Two, a model of color is included.
Models have long been replaced on glossies by the “it girl” of the moment. This is so refreshing. Maybe it’s the return of the supermodel, although there would never be another era of Naomi, Christy, Linda and Cindy.
But, like I always say, baby steps still covers some distance, it would just take more time.
Hope other mags follow suit.

On the eve of the 40th anniversary of becoming the first African-American woman to land a Vogue cover, Johnson remembers it like it was yesterday.
Fewer models of color are working today. Check out Beverly Johnson’s take on the state of the industry.
