Natural Hair on The Corner- Jill Scott Graces Essence’s October Cover with a TWA
Jilly from Philly has long been on the natural hair side of the coin. The songstress flips back or forth between natural and straight looks. She no matter how she rocks her coif, the girl got style. For the October issue of Essence magazine Jill rocks a TWA and looks absolutely regal. I’m glad that Essence did this cover. The magazine is moving back to truly depicting us in our own image. Bravo!
When asked about her hair story in the mag Jill says,
This is the simplest form of myself. I look in the mirror and it’s like, ‘Hey, there you go. What’s up, girl?’ For me, hair is an accoutrement. Hair is jewelry. It’s an accessory. Tomorrow I may want a wig down to my butt and I’m gonna rock it, and the next day I may want a big Afro and I’m gonna rock that too…”
I love the versatility. I myself switch it up on the regular.
